Obviously ICE are powered by cobalt properties the gasoline you buy when you fill up at a gas station. The electric motor/generator is powered by a large (and by large, I mean large and heavy) battery pack. Most hybrids on the road today have large Nickel-Metal Hydride (NiMH) battery packs somewhere near the trunk, or under the seats. (Read about the Lexus Hybrid battery pack).
Nonetheless, the Volt is not something in GM's immediate plans. The idea for the Volt would require that a cost efficient 400-lb lithium-ion battery be found. lithium facts-ion batteries of this size are not currently available. Further advances in battery technology would be required to allow GM to consider making the Volt a production car. These are enhancements that could occur in as little as a year, or as many as 20 years. GM has stated that they feel the technology is almost there, yet a vehicle like this is probably about a decade away.
The last thing to start tinkering on is the rate of fire. The biggest thing that will determine your ROF is the battery voltage and the amount Milliampere-Hour rating (mAH). Some of the best batteries for increasing ROF are the LiPoly batteries (Lithium Polymer) but you should not use these types on out of the box guns. When preparing to use the Lipoly battery you need to make your internal components are reinforced and upgraded where they need to be.
On the second point, iPOD batteries are smart charging. Now, you can't use your iPOD Nano battery to help study for a test! Rather, they're smart because they can tell the charger when they're almost full. When your iPOD is charging, it charges up to 80% capacity in no time flat. Then the iPOD battery tells the charger to slow down so the charging process goes lithium bettery stock from warp speed to snail's pace. This ensures that the battery doesn't overcharge, and makes certain that you're spending your time with your music, and not spending your cash on iPOD batteries.

But, because your iPOD battery is a lithium-ion beast, you won't need to worry about that for a while!
